Your privacy rights allow you to exclude your personally identifiable information (to "opt-out") from disclosure to third parties for marketing purposes (see Mail Preference).
As part of our commitment to your privacy, The Met Store supports and adheres to the guidelines and practices adopted by the Direct Marketing Association's Privacy Promise to Consumers.
When you place an order by telephone or through the mail, the Museum will ask you to provide personally identifiable information necessary to fulfill your order or catalogue request that can include your name, billing and shipping postal addresses, telephone number, email address, Membership number (if applicable), and credit card number. We will retain the personally identifiable information you provided with your order for our records, to facilitate customer service, and to continue sending you our catalogues or promotions. The Museum may combine the information you provide with other personally identifiable information to which the Museum has access, such as purchase history and demographic information.
Occasionally, we share our catalogue mailing lists with carefully screened companies whose products and services may be of interest to you. If you prefer that we not make your name available in this way, or would like to be removed from our mailing list, please contact us:

If you are placing an order by mail, you may also check the appropriate box on the catalogue order form to indicate your preference.
The Museum never shares with third parties any personally identifiable information you provide when purchasing a Membership or making a donation online, through the mail, in person, or on the telephone except as required by law (see Third-Party Service Providers). Active Members are deleted from the catalogue mailing list when it is shared with other companies.
If you are receiving duplicate copies of our catalogue, please cut out and send all the addresses, marking the preferred address, to the Customer Service Department as noted above.
The Museum may engage reputable third-party vendors that help us manage our operations and allow us to better service your account. The Museum requires its vendors by contract to maintain the confidentiality and security of Museum information to which they are provided access and contractually restricts the vendors from using information in any way not expressly authorized by the Museum.
